School Supply Lists

2026-2027

Please use the following school supply list for the 2026-2027 school year (updated August 2026).

All students should have: gym shoes, waterbottle, and backpack. If you need help with supplies please contact Melanie Matelich at 406-728-2400 ext. 4590 or mamatelich@mcpsmt.org and she can provide assistance as needed. Any questions about items on your child’s list can be directed to the classroom teacher once school starts.

Trailblazers

These materials are shared so please do not label

  • Dry erase markers – wide tip
  • Washable Markers Wide Tip (like crayola) 
  • Small glue sticks x 2
  • Colored Pencils
  • 1 set watercolor paints
  • 1 Snack item for snack time (granola bars, goldfish crackers, pretzels, veggie straw, fruit pouches etc.) to help get us started for the year.

For your child – PLEASE LABEL

  • Water bottle
  • PE shoes 
  • Standard Size Backpack
  • Bag with Extra Clothes (underwear, pants, socks, shirt)

WISH LIST

  • Sensory Table Materials
    • Dry Rice
    • Dry beans (NOT KIDNEY)

  • Playdough supplies

  • Pony Beads (for making bracelets)
  • Extra snacks – we will have a snack once a day (in addition to breakfast and lunch) to keep their tummies full and minds engaged.

Kindergarten

Paxson Kindergarten General Supply List

Each teacher will provide families with a personal classroom list, which will contain additional classroom materials (beyond these items) once room assignments are issued at the beginning of the year.

  •  1 set of over-the-ear headphones that are iPad and Chromebook compatible
    • Headphones have to have a wire
    • ZERO wireless headphones
    • ZERO rechargeable headphones
  •  1 spill-proof water bottle- write your child’s name on the lid and bottle. Spill proof means when it is open, it won’t spill when tipped to the side or held upside down.
  • Small blanket for rest time (ZERO pillows or stuffed animals)
  • FYI: Keeping extra school supplies at home comes in handy when supporting learning at home.

First Grade Supply List

All 1st Grade Supplies:

  •  1 box of crayons
  • 1 box of colored pencils
  • Pencil box that is capable of holding all personal school supplies
  • 1 pair of scissors
  • $3.00 book bag fee
  • Water bottle
  • 1 set of over-the-ear headphones that can be plugged into a computer

Roos

  • 1 Primary Composition Books: half page with lines for writing, half page blank for drawing
  •  If you can, please contribute one of the following items to share. 1 bottle of moisturizing hand soap  and cleaning wipes
 Maddox

  • 2 highlighters
  • 2 black Sharpies
  • 1 pack of pencil top erasers
  • 20 glue sticks
  • 1 set of Crayola watercolor paints 
  • 2 boxes of tissue
  • Cleaning wipes

Toole

  • Primary Composition Notebooks – half page for writing/half page for drawing
  • 10 Glue sticks
  • 1 highlighter

Second Grade Supply List

Please contact your child’s teacher if you are in a position to contribute extra school supplies for those who may need them, we thank you very much and welcome your donations. 

 Individual Supplies: 

  • 1 set of over-the-ear headphones (label with name)
  • 1 school backpack (label with name)
  • gym shoes to leave at school
  • water bottle with a spill-proof lid (label with name)
  • One 3-Ring Binder (vinyl, 1 inch only, please)

Communal Supplies:

  • 1 box of colored pencils (24 count)
  • 4 glue sticks
  • one pack black Expo low odor whiteboard markers 

Optional Classroom Supplies: 

Please contribute any of the following optional and very helpful classroom supplies:

  • 1-2 rolls of paper towels
  • 1-2 box of facial tissue (Kleenex)
  • Stack of compostable paper cups  
  • One pack washable markers

Third Grade Supply List 

  • 1 pack colored pencils
  •  Scissors
  • 1 small pack of erasers
  •  Pencil sharpener
  •  Pencil/supply-box/container 
  •  Water bottle (with closable lid)
  •  Headphones for computer
  •  1 box of tissues

Fourth Grade Supply List 

Please purchase both types of supplies, Individual and Communal.

Individual Supplies:

Please write your name on these items – they will stay in your binder, bin, or desk. 

  • 1 pencil pouch or box to hold pencils, erasers, sharpener 
  • 1 composition notebook
  • 1 hand held pencil sharpener with a compartment to catch shavings. 
  • 2 books that you are excited to read (Your choice! Can be fiction or nonfiction) 
  • 1 water bottle with leak-proof top 
  • 1 set of headphones in a labeled ziplock bag 
  • Gym Shoes that will remain at school

 Kress Class Only

  • 5 Dry erase markers
  • 1 Plastic folder
  • 3 blue or red pens 

 Communal Supplies:

If you can provide more communal supplies than what we ask for, we will happily accept any and all extra. 

  • 4 Jumbo glue sticks, Elmer’s purple glue is preferred if possible. 
  • 1 box of 10 markers Classic Colors, Bold Tip 
  • 1 box of 12 colored pencils 
  • 10 pencil cap size erasers 
  • 24 sharpened #2 pencils 
  • 1 canister of disinfectant wipes
  • 1 box of tissues

Fifth Grade Supply List

A sign-up genius will be sent out in September for specific class needs for communal supplies.

  • Headphones 
  • ½-inch size binder for band/orchestra (black or white)
  • Ticonderoga Pre-Sharperned Pencils
